HAWKS IN COLLEGE – Week 2

WEEK 2 OF THE NCAA SEASON BRINGS SUCCESS FOR MANY HAWKS ALUMNAE
LIVONIA, MICH (Aug. 28, 2018) – Michigan Hawks players continued the NCAA season this week racking up points and tournament honors across the multi-game weekend.

ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAMS
Northwestern sophomore Regan Steigleder (Iowa City, Iowa) earned her second all-tournament team honors in as many weeks at the Boilermaker Challenge Cup this past weekend. She is joined on the Boilermaker Challenge Cup All-Tournament team by fellow Hawks alumna and Purdue sophomore Sarah Clark (Brighton, Mich.) who recorded two assists and a goal on the weekend. Steigleder earned similar honors at the Hoosier Challenge Cup last weekend where she was similarly joined by two other Hawks alumnae in her Northwestern senior teammate Marissa Viggiano (Macomb Township, Mich) as well as Indiana sophomore Bethany Kopel (Novi, Mich.).

1ST CAREER GOALS
Michigan State freshman Camryn Evans (Fenton, Mich.) recorded her first career goal, the game-winner, and added another for good measure in a 4-0 win against Green Bay. Illinois sophomore Madi Wolfbauer (Canton, Mich.) also recorded the first goal of her career with the Fighting Illini in their dominant 8-0 victory over Northern Illinois.

STRONG PERFORMANCES
Butler freshman Morgan Kloosterman (Northville, Mich.) recorded her third career goal for the Bulldogs in their fourth game on the year. It was the game-winner in a statement win against #20 Notre Dame. UMass senior striker Erin Doster (Okemos. Mich.) scored a goal and added two assists for the Minutewomen in a multiple career-high performance in both assists and points. Indiana senior Maya Piper (Midland, Mich.) also added a goal and assist on the weekend for the Hoosiers in their matches against Georgia and Notre Dame.

SHOT STOPPERS
Hawaii Pacific junior goalkeeper Lauren Spencer (Oxford, Mich.) was honored as the PacWest Conference Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year this week. Michigan sophomore Izzy Nino (Northville, Mich.) recorded her third win of the season for the Wolverines at home on Thursday against visiting Marquette. Finally, Kate McEachern (Troy, Mich.) led Youngstown State to their first win of the season recording her first shutout for the Penguins along the way.
